Texas Sheet Cake - Kyle Ward Christmas Party Recipe

Grease and flour a 12 x 17 x 1 inch sheet pan

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Cake:

Bring to boil in a saucepan:

1/4 cup unsweetened powdered baking cocoa(I use Hershey's)
1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil
1/2 cup butter
1 cup water

Boil and then pour over the following in a large mixing bowl:

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar

Mix well and then in a seperate bowl mix the following:

2 beaten eggs
1/2 cup of buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix well and add to cocoa mixture. Blend well and then pour into prepared pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. While still hot frost with this frosting:

Frosting:

In small saucepan, boil the following ingredients:

1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
3 Tablespoons unsweetened powdered baking cocoa

Use whisk and blend well. Pour over:

2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat until smooth and pour over hot cake, spreading evenly. You can optionally garnish with walnuts or pecans.
